Weekly training plan that I stick to in order to keep trim following training for the Triathlon I did in August 09!! I try to stick to the plan as much as possible, but if I miss a bit out, or want a rest day on a day other than a Friday or Sunday, I'm flexible to change the plan for that week.
November 19 Wednesday 18th - long run in the rain and darkOn Wednesday night I went to the gym, and instead of going in, I got my waterproof on and ran outside.
Right now here, it's getting dark by about 5. I'd had a half shift so was at the gym for just before 5, but by the time I got changed into my running stuff, it was dark.
There are some good streetlit paths around the gym, but I didn't want to do any loops, so I planned on running where I knew there would be street light, and where I knew it would be safe.
So I took a right out of Bellahouston leisure centre and up towards Nithsdale Road. Up Nithsdale Road to where it meets Darnley Street and turned right up to Haggs Road. I was at just under 40 minutes there, so I knew if I wanted to do a long run (10k) I would need to add on a bit of a loop. I ran up Haggs Road and back down it to where I'd turned left, then up Mosspark Blvd back to Bella.
All in all it was 10.5k in 52 minutes. I was really pleased with it. Even though it was pouring with rain and I got soaked through. It was a good run, even despite the cars going past splashing me! :-(
RUN: 6.5M, 52 mins, 750 calories
PACE: 8 minutes per mile, 7.5 mph. Ave HR: 163 (85%) Max HR: 174 (91%) Min HR: 89 (47%). Felt tired on Thursday from it and think I will benefit from playing a bit of fun basketball then straight to bed Thurs night!! November 18 Tuesday 17th - long cycle...Went ot the gym on Tuesday night... I was very tempted to give it a miss as I haven't been feelnig right - but went anyway... took it easy on the bike for an hour.
CYCLE: 1 hour, 26k (16.1M), 700 cals, Level 8.
Warm up: 10 mins @ +80rpm
9 x (4 mins @ +90rpm, 1 min @ +70rpm.)
Cool down: 5 mins @+80rpm.
I was all hot and sweaty by the end of it and it was a good hour session. I think I will try spin fit next Tuesday night at the gym. I'm not normally one for classes, but it looks like it would work you hard.
Today I have a half day to spend with my neice, and I'm hoping I can maybe get for a run in a park before it gets dark. We will see. November 17 Long weekend offI had Friday, Saturday and Sunday off - a long weekend. I had planned to do a long run on Saturday...but wimped out of it. Got an infection and need to see if I can get it cleared with anti biotics before I start exercising again. Missing running though so I may try something tonight. I feel ok and I think exercise makes me feel better.
Spent the weekend booking plumbers and carpet fitters to replace the heating and carpets and also went to price a holiday to San Fran for September 2009!
On Monday I took the night off too... (usually run in the morning, gym at night). Maybe I'll spend some time setting up some gym workouts to prevent me getting bored in the gym. :-D Walked to and from work though, which was refreshing.
We'll see if I go to the gym tonight or not. I have my gym stuff - so we will see!
Thursday 12th - basketballI went to basketball on Thursday night. It was a busy night with 9 people all together - so we got quite a few games of full court. It was a good run around although I didn't play my best. But at least I didn't fall over as usual. :-)
November 12 Wednesday 11th - gymOn Wednesday I walked to work, 0.6 miles, 12 mins, 65 cals, then went to the gym and did a good hour and a half session.
I started on the treadmill setting it at 2 minute intervals between 11.5 and 12.5 kph (7.1 - 7.8 mph). I set my ipod nike plus thing at 30 mins and aimed to go for 40 mins - or 5 miles. At 5 or 6 mins I was finding it a little hard to stay motivated, but at about 12 mins I was getting into the rhythm.. then I was asked by my mate to go to an abs class... sweating with a pulse of about 170... I was a little reluctant, but paused my ipod and hopped off for a 25 minute abs class. I did 2.76 k in the time I was on it.
We did about 12 or 15 different abs exercises in 25 minutes, then I hopped back on the treadmill for another 12 minutes. I finished off the run by donig a total of 5k in 25 minutes. Burned around 320 calories.
Then I went to do a 35 minute weights circuit. I did it a bit differently this time instead of doing 3 x 12 or whatever, I would do 1 x 12 for each exercise, then repeat them until I'd done the circuit 3 times. It felt a bit better to do it that way and I tried increasing the weight on the last circuit. (About 280 cals)
